Post Type - Custom Taxonomy - Meta (Category)

It lists all meta right except "Post category".

Post type is custom post type maid by PODS and custom taxonomy maid by PODS.
Custom taxonomy is separated from WP native taxonomies, related only to one custom post type.

PODS is done by same people who develop WordPress core code. So please change your code a bit to recognize custom taxonomies from custom post types.

Solution from this topic works, just tested.

Not much code to adapt/rearange inside Themler.

get_the_term_list works without glitch, if you could eliminate need for post type name inside code. Obviously it would be not possible to have separate names inside code, for each post type, in Themler.

Hello

I'm not familiar with Pods plug-in but here is what I did.

Post type is custom post type maid by PODS

  • created new Pod (Custom Post Type) with "Name" - mypod (under Advanced)
  • then I created a new template in Themler:

    • Custom Template named mypod
    • changed file name to single-mypod.php
  • and then created new item under my new Post Type
    Now all items of my new Post Type use mypod custom template.

custom taxonomy maid by PODS

  • here I created New Custom Taxonomy named mytax, associated it with Custom Post Type created above.
  • created new item of my Custom Post Type and added mytaxx custom taxonomy to this item.
  • then I created new Custom Template in Themler with taxonomy-mytax-mytaxx.php file name.

Everything works ok.

Iа I do not understand you correctly please explain in more details what exactly you're trying to achieve.

Thank you,
Olivia

I attached screenshot. It is one of the specific blog_x.php files, line 62.
get_the_category_list cannot show what custom taxonomy post belongs. Or at least I could not make it no matter what I tried manually in the code.

get_the_term_list works in this case. There are few other too, see in the codex. Those with "object" inside.

It needs to be changed slightly to support custom (and isolated from WP categories) taxonomies.

I am working with archive custom templates archive-mypod.php. It works OK, problem is not there.

Hi,

Ok, I see now what you mean.
I've added your request to our wish list.

In the meantime I can only suggest using native WP categories.

Thank you,
Olivia

Can you please check topic about latest update. There I wrote how is not possible to style archive/blog list for "custom template". Only we get is one post/page. Pagination is impossible to style, and everything else is difficult.

Blog is perfect for styling because it gives normal grid view of multiple posts, but we cannot give own names to archives (templates).

Maybe I am missing something important there, and dont know how to work with it.

And now I have other problem, probably something with cache in Themler. When I make custom template it redirects me to Appearance-Themes backend and says to not use preview theme. But there is no preview theme. just original.

Give us option to name Blog templates with own names ? It would be elegant solution to everything.
We dont need to chose Blog options in Theme settings, WP logic pick files automatically by filename logic.

I mean anything that will give us grid list of many posts when we editing custom templates. I know it is Beta and you have lot of work, just asking is it meant to stay this way.

"Blog" is only a title. This is template for WP Posts page. That's all.
Any custom template can show grid of posts. If you create taxonomy template you will see a number posts.
For some reason the custom post archive works in a different way. I've asked our developers about this issue.
I'll let you know when I receive any news from them.

Thank you,
Olivia

I know what you mean. Just need to say, there are many custom post types without categories/taxonomies. Simple, because many post types dont need them.

Will try taxonomy custom template again. last time i checked was it one post only, not grid.

it works for me in the way I provided in my first reply in this topic. You just need to have more than one post with this taxonomy.

Thank you,
Olivia

I usually call this option as "Portfolio Template", because you can filter, segment and make dynamic visual.
Is a great option and you can customizer as you want.
I hope be available as soon as possible.

More than one year and it is still not added.
Custom post types are vital part of WordPress CMS. I use them on almost all websites.

It needs to be added for detailed Post view too.

Hi,

Themler is a template generator tool.
Аt the moment we do not see the need to add custom Post types in Themler because there are a lot of WP plugins for this like PODS you mentioned. But your request is in our wish list. We'll consider it for future update if we receive more same user requests.

Thank you,
Olivia

Oliiva, stop playing dumb. If you have problem to follow technical things on forum ask your developers to answer.

it is not about generating post types.

Hi,

Themler Post Category control outputs the list of post categories returned by get_the_category_list(); WP function:
<div class=" bd-posticoncategory-7">
<?php
$categories = get_the_category_list(', ');
if (theme_strlen($categories) > 0) : ?>
<span class=" bd-icon bd-icon-44"><span><?php echo get_the_category_list(', ');?></span></span>
<?php endif ?>
</div>

That's all.
If you want to show a custom post type category you can use CMS Code control to output anything you want.
To add the icon you can use Themler shortcode.

Thank you,
Olivia

Hi,

Yes, I believe you. But it's not possible to implement everything in Themler. That's why we created CMS Code control.

Thank you,
Olivia
